Autograph letter signed, dated : Paris, 14 December 1839, to an unidentified recipient in Vienna, 1839 Dec. 14.

Thanking him for his most interesting communication, saying that Moscheles, Blahetka, Heller, Panofka, and other mutual friends have described the current artistic conditions in Vienna, sending an "unverstümmeltes" copy of Die Hugenotten as a small expression of his esteem for the recipient, adding that Herr Springer will bring it to Vienna, saying that on the advice of his wife's doctors he will go to Baden-Baden for the winter in a few days, asking if the recipient's favorable conjecture concerning a mollification of the censors towards the Huguenots libretto for the Kärntnertortheater has come true, "oder werden sie auch dort wieder als Ghibellinen verkappt und verstümmelt figuriren," asking him to greet Castelli, etc.
